Meet Our Members for the 2015-2016 Program Year
A native of Oconomowoc, Trevor will be serving at the Waushara County Health Department, where he also did an internship through the Wisconsin Area Health Education Center’s CHIP program. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a double major in biology and global health and will be applying to medical schools this year.
Joining the program from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Darci will be serving in Eau Claire at the City-County Health Department. Darci is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she majored in Evolutionary Anthropology. She has already experienced some of the great summer music festivals that Eau Claire has to offer and is excited to gain experience in public health before pursuing an MPH.
Lynnsey graduated from UW-Madison with a double major of Psychology and Gender & Women Studies. She first learned about the HealthCorps program after completing a summer internship with the Rock County Health Department as part of the Wisconsin Area Health Education Center’s “CHIP” internship program. Lynnsey will be serving her second term this year at the Winnebago County Health Department in Oshkosh.
Ashley has been getting a sampling of the midwest after growing up in Tolono, IL and going to school at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She will be serving her second term this year at the Winnebago County Health Department working on AODA and other substance abuse issues before pursuing an MPH.
Dougie comes to the HealthCorps program via Northbrook, IL and will be serving just across the border at the Kenosha Community Health Center. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a major in Biology and a certificate in Leadership and will likely be applying to medical schools following his year of service.
A native of Green Bay, Ellie will be serving this year at the Winnebago County Health Department. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, having majored in Biology. After graduating college, she worked for a year at the Winnebago County Health Department, primarily focusing on their SmartPlate program. Her aspiration is to work in health policy and education.
Maritza will be “staying home” to serve having grown up in Milwaukee and now serving at Fight Asthma Milwaukee Allies. She returns to SE Wisconsin after graduating from the UW as a Gender and Women Studies major. She was also pre-med. She hopes to utilize the skills gained in the classroom and apply them to health disparities within the Milwaukee community.
Kelli returns to Wisconsin after completing her undergraduate degree in Allied Health Biology at Winona State in Minnesota. She will be serving this year in Madison at the Dane County Department of Human Services and will be pursuing an MPH down the road.
A native of New Richmond, WI that will be serving at the Family Health Center of Marshfield in Eau Claire, Sarah is a recent graduate of UW-Eau Claire. Her degree is in Biology and she is excited to give back to the community that has been her home for the last four years.
Originally from Baltimore, Ryan recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a dual degree in English and Philosophy. He worked this past summer as an intern at a free clinic in Milwaukee through the Wisconsin Area Health Education Center’s CHIP program. He will be serving this year at the Marinette County Health Department.
Meng will be serving this year at the Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is originally from Wausau and recently completed his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin. Meng will be applying to medical school this year with the hope of one day caring for underrepresented populations.
Originally from Appleton, Lawrence recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Microbiology. An aspiring physician, he will be serving at the Lakeshore Community Health Center in Manitowoc, learning more about providing healthcare to the underserved.
